FACING FEARS ~ FACING MYSELF

Writer's picture: Tanya WalkerTanya Walker

Let us begin by acknowledging that most of us are not living in our conscious selves. We are a product by design of our limiting beliefs, conditioning and emotional ancestral legacy.

What does this mean? This means that we are pre-conditioned how we make decisions. We want to believe we are free thinkers and in control of our lives when actually we are controlled by what lies within the story we continue to tell ourselves - our patterns!

Our power, strength and courage is embedded within our vulnerability and the shedding of the mask we wear so that we are seen for who we are, not for who we want to be perceived as!

For myself, this journey began with an exploration of my 'shadow self'. the parts of me that we were hidden in my unconscious - my emotional sensitivities, my lack of self-worth, my lack of independence...the list goes on.

Once I was able to not only acknowledge this side of me, but to fully embrace it and make the necessary changes, a whole new world began to open and I became less fearful of so many things...including myself!

As humans, we have a tendency to pass judgement, to voice opinions that have not been requested and to surround ourselves with people who validate our belief system.

Fear is primitive and emotional! It alerts us of danger and when we talk ourselves out of things that are not tangible or visible, we are only feeding the fear and the patterned behaviour that is growing inside.

An emotional response to fear involves chemical reactions in the brain and as we respond to fear, we are creating familiar neural pathways so that we will continue to respond the same way each time. Our emotional response will also include physical sensations such as a change in body temperature, elevated heartbeat, rush of adrenaline, a need to use our voice and perhaps there may even be tears or aggression.

It is my experience as someone who continues to do the 'inner work' and assists others on a journey of self-exploration that many of us are afraid ourselves.

As I tell my clients, when it comes to happiness - if you are thinking of making a decision, the decision has been made! It is only fear that is keeping you from the execution!

A journey of self-discovery allows you to arrive at your own 'truths' without judgement. Often times, there is a fear of diving into one's self, fear of exploring who we are and why we operate the way we do - make no mistake, it is not always singing bowls and unicorns, but when you arrive and meet yourself, the Universe has a way of eliminating or reducing anxiety, improving your health and assisting you with manifestation in the most unimagineable ways.

I have never coached an individual or offered a retreat where the 'spark' wasn't ignited!

Love Always,

Tanya
